Crafting + drones are so comically bad that I don't see how anyone could support them unless they don't take the game seriously. I played a game earlier today and I counted how many drones a guy used, at least at first. People SPAM drones in WMD - like once per turn sometimes, or more. It is one of the worst items to ever be introduced into the game - even worse than bunker busters, and bunker busters are pretty terrible. I've also doubled down upon my hatred of drones. Most of the open games are AFK hosts, and when you do find a host who isn't AFK it's usually some ridiculous noob scheme that isn't even worth playing unless you don't care about winning because the scheme comes down to random luck, literally. The global server lobby is so bugged that one can't even scroll through it to find a game. I reinstalled the game after my post to give it another shot to see if perhaps my opinion has changed. which is a shame, now that we have all these new scheme options. Where is the pro roping scene from back then? pretty much everyone moved on and so did i. i'm inactive because i can't be bothered with this new community of normal game players or a mole shoppa every 2 hrs or whatever. if only more people from over a decade ago would still be playing. I have little to no faith that we'll return to the classic style that made the series great, so WA is what is still the ultimate Worms game. and with wmd it's vehicles, static bunker structures and weapon crafting. worm classes to yet again appeal to tf2 crowd. with weapons like sentry guns appearing for 1 or 2 titles coz we have to appeal to the tf2 crowd on steam. The concept existed throughout Worms 1,2, Armageddon, WWP and 3d.įrom that point on the series pretty much got changed into this "1 gimick for every new game" style. they don't make a classic interpretation of Andy Davidson's concept anymore. roadmap abandonedyou pretty much explained what's wrong with this series in general. The game doesn't need to cater to absolute newbies to be successful. Please get this next Worms game right, Team17! WMD had potential but I feel like it was released way too early without enough content or playtesting. requiring Workshop for custom hats, levels, etc. allowing poison to pass through solid objects (one thing that Reloaded got right!) FARRRRR too few scheme and sudden death options (just look at what we have in WA for example) no cross-platform multiplayer (VERY divided player base) extremely limited and broken ranking system that rewards grinding rather than skill extremely limited game/stat tracking, especially compared to Clan Wars no way to import/use custom speech banks too few terrain themes, especially at launch no way to filter between open games and games in progress in the global lobby adding a lot of redundant craftable variants of items that simply aren't needed, and/or too OP leaving out loads of classic weapons and utilities that would have added a lot more depth to the game weapon emplacements (they are either not useful whatsoever, or OP) vehicles (also ruins the classic strategy of the game, especially random drops) crafting (completely ruins the classic strategy of Worms) decent aesthetics (once I got used to the new look) a pretty solid single player experience, even if the AI is dumb at least *attempting* to make the ninja rope better than it was in the 2.5D games and more like the classic ninja rope having a global chat lobby, even if it is barebones and bugged finally being able to have 6 players (first game since WWP to allow that) It's far more frustrating than fun and I'm ready for a new game that hopefully still goes in a 2D direction but fixes all of the problems present in WMD. I personally don't play WMD anymore because I have so many complaints with the game. So it's been 5 years now since WMD launched and I am ready for a new Worms title.
